ICETRON 2P/ECO and Blacklight Systems
  • Inductively Coupled Electrodeless Systems
  • ECO Types Pass Federal TCLP Test
  • Blacklight - Special Effects & Industrial Applications
  • 100,000-Hour Life, Instant-on/Restart

SYLVANIA has enhanced its family of ICETRON systems to include ECOLOGIC “white light” and Blacklight lamps that pass the Federal TCLP Test*.  ICETRON 2P/ECO lamps are available in 70W, 100W and 150W types with a choice of 3500K, 4100K and 5000K colors (all 80 CRI). Using a 150W ICETRON ECO system vs. a 150W metal halide system results in less than 1/6th as much mercury disposal over the 100,000-hour life of the system.

ICETRON 100W and 150W Blacklight lamps provide a new, energy efficient, long life solution for special effects and industrial lighting applications. ICETRON Blacklight systems provide an alternative for short life (typically 800 hour) HID systems by incorporating a phosphor that peaks at 368 nm.  With 75% UV maintenance at 5,000 hours, this system can significantly reduce the frequency and related cost of lamp replacement.

ICETRON 2P/ECO and Blacklight lamps operate on QUICKTRONIC ICE systems that feature universal voltage, min. start temperatures as low as –40°F and remote mounting up to 66 feet.  The ICETRON/QUICKTRONIC system offers a cost saving solution for lighting applications that are difficult and expensive to service.

PHILLIES SIGN SEEN FOR MILES AT CITIZENS BANK FIELD
  • New Phillies Sign Soars 200 Feet Above Field
  • Sign Measures 100 Feet Across By 26 Feet High
  • 140 ICETRON Systems Provide Bright, Even Lighting
  • 100,000-Hour Lamp Life Reduces Maintenance

With the opening of the Philadelphia Phillies new ballpark, Citizens Bank Park, premier sign manufacturer Capital Manufacturing was contracted to build the signage to be placed around the large LED Video Board and Incandescent Matrix Scoreboard; one of the main features of the new ballpark.  Atop of the scoreboard is a large “Phillies” sign, mounted 200 feet above the playing field. The sign is approximately 26 feet tall and 100 feet long.  The Phillies sign, although large and prominently positioned, needed to illuminate the skies above Citizens Bank Park for people to see from miles around.

Metal halide lamps were originally specified, but because of the difficulty replacing the lamps at this height, Capital introduced the SYLVANIA ICETRON® and QUICKTRONIC® ICE system to the project team. The SYLVANIA ICETRON system pairs an electrodeless lamp with an energy efficient, electronic ballast to deliver instantaneous, bright light in warm or cold weather.  But even more impressive its 100,000-hour average rated life and the ICETRON’s five-year system warranty – two benefits that sold the Phillies project team on the ICETRON system.

Designing the sign required experimentation with different lamp quantities and spacing and once a final layout was determined, Capital Manufacturing had a mere three weeks to build and install the sign.  The Phillies sign that now stands high above the new Citizens Bank Park contains 140, 150-watt SYLVANIA ICETRON systems.  The Phillies operate the sign almost 24 hours per day, and it can now be seen from miles around.
