Presented At 2004 IESNA Annual Conference
Featured In November Issue Of Lighting Design & Application
The Progress Committee of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) included 12 OSRAM SYLVANIA products in its 2004 report of innovative industry developments. Deliberating and voting on over 200 submissions, the 30-member committee of industry employees and consultants accepted more SYLVANIA products than those of any other lamp and ballast manufacturer. An itemized list of each product's significance, along with links to the specific Product Information Bulletins, may be found in the table below. These and other accepted submissions were presented at the IESNA Annual Conference, held July 25-28, 2004 in Tampa, Florida.
The mandate of the Progress Committee is "to keep in touch with developments in the art and science of lighting throughout the world and prepare a yearly review of achievements for the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America." Membership is limited to one individual per company to ensure an unbiased forum for review. Committee members annually solicit the lighting industry for submissions. Submissions are organized into one of seven categories: light source, accessory, luminaire, research, application, publication and design tool. They are evaluated for their design, engineering characteristics, installation features and overall uniqueness. The committee votes by a simple majority on whether or not to accept a submission.
A description of each accepted submission is featured in the committee's Progress Report, which will be published in the November 2004 edition of the IESNA's "Lighting Design & Application" magazine.
