Light Emitting Diodes, or LEDs to most of us, are the technology of tomorrow. These ultra-efficient little electronic optical marvels are gradually replacing other types of in our homes, offices and our cars. They use a lot less energy and last a lot longer than conventional light sources while providing the same illuminative power.

But did you know that in automotive applications, the switch from incandescent bulbs to LEDs can increase fuel economy while reducing carbon emissions?

The OSRAM SYLVANIA automotive division is releasing a video on Earth Day, April 22 designed to educate the public and the auto industry about this energy-saving technology.

The first in a series of “Did You Know” videos, David Hulick, global product marketing manager at OSRAM SYLVANIA for its automotive LED systems division, enlightens us to the true potential of LED showing how the efficiency of OSRAM JOULE LED can save more than 12 gallons of fuel per vehicle per year and reduce yearly CO2 emissions by 251 pounds per vehicle.
