OSRAM ANNOUNCES NEW PACKAGING DESIGN
FOR XBO LAMPS AT SHOWEST 2005
LAS VEGAS – (March 15, 2005) – OSRAM Display/Optic announces a revolutionary, new packaging design for its XBO® family of lamps. OSRAM has focused on improving the cushioning, protective cover and box type to further ensure lamp and customer safety as part of its ongoing commitment to provide product quality from manufacturing through delivery to the end user.
“These new packaging improvements provide additional protection against the accelerated vibrations in high G-force shocks resulting from shipping and handling,” said Jim Malfitano, cinema global business unit manager of OSRAM Display/Optic. “The new XBO lamp packaging has been tested extensively. We’re proud to bring this improvement to our cinema customers.”
The benefits of the new packaging include the following:
Cushioning:
· Special high-quality shock absorbing foam offers resistance to accelerated vibration and
completely supports the lamp.
· Higher G-force shock resistance better withstands rough shipping and handling.
· XBO lamp documents are conveniently placed and visible upon opening the box.
New Protective Fleece Cover:
· OSRAM XBO lamps are contained in a new state-of-the-art flexible fleece cover.
· The fleece increases safety by covering the lamp during installation and removal.
· The fleece cover will release the pressure and contain the glass lamp safely in the event
of breakage.
Box Type and Design:
· There is now one carton securely containing the lamp (no outer carton).
· The fully printed graphics on the exterior of the box emphasize the highly fragile nature
of the XBO lamp inside.
· The box can be stored easily in both vertical and horizontal positions.
In addition, the new packaging offers smaller overall size, lower weight and volume using less inventory space.
