OSRAM SHOWCASES SHARXS HTI LAMP SERIES AT LDI 2004
Innovative lamp series provides exceptional brightness and operating efficiencies for entertainment, effect and architectural lighting applications
LAS VEGAS – October 22, 2004 – OSRAM will showcase an expanded line of SharXSÒ HTIÒ series of double-ended metal halide lamps at LDI 2004, that have been specially designed for special effects, entertainment and architectural lighting applications, and for use in fixtures having similar footprint designs. Available in 200, 400, 575, 700 and 1200-watt versions, OSRAM SharXS HTI lamps are setting new standards throughout the lighting industry. Through the employment of eXtreme Seal (XS) technology, a standardization of overall lengths, and a short arc, these lamps deliver exceptional brightness, operate at peak efficiency, and can withstand greater thermal stress than conventional types.
The key to XS technology is that it enables the lamps to successfully withstand thermal stress. The thermally sensitive area at the seal is covered by a protective layer that allows this area to withstand up to 450°C, compared to conventional temperatures of 350°C.
Due to the standardization of SharXS HTI double-ended metal halide lamps, fixture manufacturers now need only to adapt the control gear optics and thermal allowances for the fixture to meet various applications. As a result of special pre-focus bases, the lamps can be quickly and precisely mounted in the lamp holders. In addition, the pre-aligned lamp base and OSRAM SFc10-4 lamp holder allow these lamps to be properly installed, and consequently help in optimizing the lamp performance and output in the fixture.
With an arc gap of only 3 mm for the HTI 200 W/D3/70 and 400 W/D3/75, 4 mm for the 575 W/D4/75, 700 W/D4/60, 700 W/D4/75 and 7 mm for the 1200 W/D7/60, the lamps in the SharXS family achieve high luminance and exceptional efficiency. In conjunction with appropriately designed fixtures, the HTI lamps produce more light than comparable lamps of the same wattage. These HTI light sources render high color temperature ranges from 6000K to 7500K, and provide the ultimate brilliant, bright light solutions for demanding lighting applications.
New OSRAM socket for SharXS HTI lamps
As an enhancement to the SharXS HTI lamp series, OSRAM is introducing the SFc10-4 pre-focus socket at LDI 2004. This new socket has been designed to work with all lamps in the SharXS HTI lamp series, making it extremely versatile and easy to use.
The OSRAM SFc10-4 pre-focus socket can be wired from either end, allowing greater flexibility for fixture installation. The socket’s key lock features for pre-focus make accurate lamp insertion easy. Together with SharXS HTI lamps, this new OSRAM socket provides a system solution for any number of applications.
Below is a technical specifications table that outlines how the SharXS HTI double- ended discharge lamp series can meet a variety of entertainment, effect and architectural applications:
