OSRAM SYLVANIA COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMPS
CONTINUE TO MEET STRICT CRITERIA FOR SAFETY

MISSISSAUGA. Ont., Dec. 2, 2004-- Recent reports by the Canadian media state that compact fluorescent lamps made in China by Fujian Joinluck Electronic Enterprise pose a potential fire risk. The bulb that the media refers to is a 13-watt mini spiral bulb from Globe Electric that bears an unauthourized Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) mark.

SYLVANIA brand compact fluorescent bulbs are not affected by these reports.  All compact fluorescent lamps from OSRAM SYLVANIA are UL certified and/or meet Canadian Standards Association (CSA) requirements. All of the components used in the manufacturing of these bulbs are UL rated and the materials are fireproof.
