NEW EDUCATIONAL CD PROMOTING RECYCLING OF MERCURY-CONTAINING LAMPS NOW AVAILABLE
(Danvers, Mass., - December 23, 2004) - OSRAM SYLVANIA is pleased to support a new educational CD released by the Association of Lighting and Mercury Recyclers (ALMR), along with the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). This CD promotes the recycling of mercury-containing lamps.
The CD is a product of the Lamp Recycling Outreach Project (LROP), a cooperative agreement between the ALMR and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and funded by the EPA. Under this grant, ALMR, NEMA, and SWANA have collaborated to assist business and local governments with diversion programs to keep mercury-containing lamps out of municipal waste and mercury out of the environment.
“OSRAM SYLVANIA is pleased to help support this valuable educational tool. Our company supports recycling of all mercury containing lamps as the preferred method of disposal,” says Jennifer Dolin, environmental marketing manager for General Lighting. “We, along with other lamp manufacturers, recyclers, and local governments share a responsibility to keep mercury out of the environment.”
For your convenience, the information contained on the CD is available by clicking on the links below, where you will find:
