OSRAM INTRODUCES NEW LIGHTWEIGHT LAMP AT LDI 2005
Lighter aluPAR halogen lamps pack 10 percent brighter performance
ORLANDO, FL (November 11, 2005) – At LDI 2005, OSRAM will introduce the PAR 56 lamps in the OSRAM aluPAR™ family, transforming its former heavyweight family of PAR lamps into a new industry standard of lightweight lamp champions. The new OSRAM aluPAR 56 lamps are 66 percent lighter and up to 10 percent brighter than conventional stage and show PAR halogen lamps.
OSRAM’s replacement of a glass reflector with an aluminum reflector lightens these compact performers thereby reducing storage and transportation costs, and enhancing performance over conventional . The new 300 W lamp design is also fully compatible with current market standards.
“Whether it’s for a rock concert, ballet or Broadway play, designers depend on lamps that can deliver the right effects and reliability,” said Howie Ames, OSRAM entertainment business unit manager. “The new OSRAM aluPAR offers much easier handling, and even higher brightness more efficiently for these applications.”
OSRAM’s new lamp concept involves a modular design. The lightweight parabolic aluminium reflector and the front plate are mechanically linked. Higher brightness is caused by the halogen bulb and its compact filament being matched to the high-precision contour of the reflector.
The OSRAM aluPAR 56 also contains a patented dual-fuse system that prevents non-passive failures in accordance with DIN IEC 60432-2, providing an increased level of safety for end-users. The lamps are available with different voltages and beam angles, allowing for enormous freedom for designing effects and a variety of stage show . OSRAM aluPAR lamps recently received the “Environmental Impact” award at the PLASA 2005 trade show in London. Due to their environmentally friendly modular design concept, the OSRAM aluPAR lamps can be separated from their aluminium reflectors and front glass lens at the end of their life, which makes for more environmentally-friendly waste disposal.
