A SOLID FOUNDATION AND STRONG PERFORMANCE
HMI 18000 W/SE/GX51 and 12000 W/SE/GX51 Metal Halide Lamps

LAS VEGAS, NV (Oct. 20, 2006) – Film spotlights will be getting improvements, thanks to HMI® 18000 W/SE/GX51 and HMI 12000 W/SE/GX51, the newest additions to the series of high-output single-ended metal halide lamps from OSRAM. With a new robust GX51 base, improvements will be made in the mechanical load capacity of the lamps and therefore its reliability.

OSRAM’s most powerful HMI lamp, the 18000 W/SE/GX51, is now offered as a single-ended lamp, making it even easier to handle. The new base design has a more robust neck with a larger diameter and larger pin spacing (50.8 mm/2"), enabling these high-performance lamps to be more firmly attached in appropriate holders. The entire system is extremely robust with much better capabilities to cope with the harsh conditions on the set than any previous systems.

Like all lamps with XS technology, these two lamp types can withstand temperatures of up to 450°C at the thermally sensitive areas of the power lead penetrations. Therefore, they are ideal for spotlights with convection cooling.

The lamps produce star performances, especially at outdoor film and TV shoots. Modelled on the optical design principle of open “face” lampheads, ARRI’s new ARRIMAX 18/12 fixture uses this new generation of high wattage HMI lamps with the GX51 base. The new fixture design is an optimum choice for productions requiring extreme light output.

The ARRIMAX with the OSRAM HTI 18000 W/SE/GX or 12000W/SE/GX lamp provides outstanding performance with optimum shadow rendition for ambitious daylight scenes. With 1.15 (12 kW) and 1.6 (18 kW) million lumens, these lamps turn night into day. With an average life of 300 hours and a daylight color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin, these reliable high-output lamps provide artificial sunlight over a long period of time.
