Danvers, Mass. (November 18, 2008) – North American leader, OSRAM SYLVANIA, today introduced the newest addition to its Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) family, the Living Spaces™ CFL residential downlight system. The next generation residential CFL downlight system is designed to rival the comfort and coziness traditionally offered by incandescent recessed lamps with multiple and dimmable wattages along with an improved warm color that is the result of the enhanced Living Spaces phosphor mix. The pin-based lamp and ballast system is designed for simple installation, energy efficiency, glare reduction, and most importantly, a cozy and comfortable feel to living spaces from residential living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms to hotel lobbies and schools.

Energy Efficiency

The Living Spaces CFL residential downlight has a long-life of 10,000 hours and reduces energy consumption by up to 75 percent. It is designed to meet ENERGY STAR® and California Title 24 building code requirements, which requires high-efficacy in new residential construction.

Additional features of the Living Spaces CFL residential downlight include:

• Intelligent ballast design, which senses the lamp wattages and adjusts to provide the optimal performance for each lamp.
• Simplified system provides the freedom to simply switch lamp wattages to achieve the desired light levels.
• Smaller form factor reduces fixture glare via shorter overall length.
• Downlight fixture with optimized housing and trim by Cooper Lighting.
• Easy-to-use turn and click lamp-holder by BJB.
