OSRAM PROVIDES ANOTHER LAMP OPTION FOR THE SET
HMI® Award Winning Technology Increases Family Line to Support
Entertainment Lighting Needs
Orlando, Fl. (November 20, 2009) – The Display/Optic group of OSRAM SYLVANIA is pleased to introduce the newest addition to its HMI® Metal Halide Lamp family of entertainment lighting solutions, the OSRAM double-ended HMI 24000 W/DXS lamp. This new HMI lamp has a chromatized black base that features a new multiple-foil system providing longer lamp life of 375 hours, ensures higher performance and enhanced thermal ruggedness. This design holds true for the upcoming improved HMI 18000W/DXS lamp. Combined with the reliable eXtreme Seal (XS) Technology, this new foil design allows for pinch seal temperatures up to 450°C. With a luminous flux of more than 2.3 million lumens, the HMI 24000 W/DXS lamp simulates daylight conditions at a color temperature of 6000K. Like all HMI lamps, this lamp is particularly suitable for film and TV production, as well as solar simulation.
Award Winning Technology:
Designed in 1967 by Dr. Bernard Kühl and Mr. Alexander Dobrusskin, OSRAM HMI lamps offered a safe alternative to the dangerous and widely used carbon arc lights of the time. These powerful discharge light sources that replace the sun, bringing ideal exterior daylight conditions to indoor studios and make exterior locations look like high noon any time of the day or night, have been recognized by the entertainment industry with an OSCAR® and a 2007 Primetime Emmy® Engineering Award.
Features:
- Technical Data for the HMI 24000W/DXS lamp:
- In addition to a high lumen output of 2.3 million, the lamp has an efficacy of 95 lumens per Watt.
- In order to properly create the essence of daylight, the lamp has a 6,000 K color temperature with a color rendering index of greater than 90.
- Hot restrikable, dimmable
- An average service life of 375 hours.
- HMI is a registered trademark of OSRAM GmbH.

Quotes:
Mark DeLorenzo, Product Manager of Entertainment, OSRAM SYLVANIA: “We are really excited by the technology advancements in the new HMI 24000W/DXS lamp. By coming up with an entirely new, multiple segment moly-foil design, the engineers were able to increase the average life of this lamp to 375 hours—an increase of 25 percent over previous types.”
