Company Releases New Ceramic Metal Halide Lamp for Applications Where Color Matters Most

Las Vegas, NV (May 26, 2008) – OSRAM SYLVANIA continues to bring the freedom of lighting solution choice to the market with the launch of the METALARC®  POWERBALL® MC250/T9/U/G22/830 PB lamp.  This is a high wattage, high lumen lamp developed with fixture manufacturers and lighting designers in mind.  The all new metal halide lamp packs several innovative features that replace traditional light sources in more applications than before.   

At the heart of the lamp is industry exclusive OSRAM SYLVANIA POWERBALL ceramic arc tube technology with an optimal spherical shape and construction.  This combination of ideal geometry and consistent wall thickness produces a thermally uniform arc tube regardless of operating position.  POWERBALL technology not only allows the lamp to run at the best possible temperature, it improves efficacy and helps prevent lamp degradation.  

With a CRI of 86 and a high red rendering value, the MC250/T9/U/G22/830 PB lamp depicts colors very accurately across the full spectrum of visible light.  With POWERBALL technology on the inside, the lamp has exceptional color rendition of saturated reds, striking blues and greens combining into perfect, crisp whites.  The brilliant color rendering capabilities makes the MC250/T9/U/G22/830 PB lamp ideal for applications where color is an important consideration.   Thanks to the uniform arc tube operating temperatures, the MC250/T9/U/G22/830 PB lamp ensures consistent lamp to lamp color temperature and better color stability over the service life.

This lamp is rated at 24,500 (19,600) initial lumens that pledges high-quality light over the course of 12,000 hours average life.  The MC250/T9/U/G22/830 PB also features a smooth 3000K color temperature.  This innovative ceramic lamp is ideal for reflector spotlighting systems, architectural lighting and high ceiling applications including retail, grocery, hospitality and healthcare.

Lighter weight, lower profile fixtures open up more application opportunities and help reduce the initial installation costs.  The robust G22 base enables the lamp to be positioned more accurately and securely in luminaires compared to a standard E39 mogul base, resulting in full optimization of reflector optics.
