NASCAR FANS LOOK FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE AT THE SYLVANIA 300
Millions Ready for the “Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup” to Begin at NHIS


Loudon, N.H. (Sept. 16, 2007) – The NASCAR spotlight, with a little help from North American lighting leader SYLVANIA, will be shining on New England this weekend as millions of race fans gear up for the SYLVANIA 300, the kick off race of the 2007 Chase of the NASCAR Nextel Cup, at New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS).

The fifth annual SYLVANIA race weekend will include the New Hampshire 100, 125, and 200, and will culminate on Sunday, September 16 with the SYLVANIA 300 at 1:00 p.m.  Following an intense season of racing action, NASCAR’s top drivers have earned a spot in the SYLVANIA 300, the first of the final 10 races in the “Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.” 

The SYLVANIA 300 is one of the most important and exciting races, as the winner will take a decisive advantage in becoming the NASCAR Champ.
Among the 10 contenders for the “Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup” in 2007 are Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson, all of whom have had impressive finishes in prior races at NHIS.

Also racing this year, in the SYLVANIA-painted No. 15 Chevrolet, is driver Paul Menard, a member of the Dale Earnhardt Inc. team.

SYLVANIA is no NASCAR rookie. The company has been the title sponsor of the SYLVANIA 300 at the New Hampshire International Speedway for the last five years and, in July 2006, signed an additional five-year contract with NHIS through 2012.

The SYLVANIA 300 has historically been one of the highest rated NASCAR events on national television, and routinely draws crowds of well over 100,000 to NHIS, the only superspeedway in the six-state New England region and the largest sporting facility in the region.  The “Magic Mile” currently hosts both of New England’s largest sporting events: the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races in July and September.
