Border Lighting

Long, linear runs of acrylic-faced channels are often used as an architectural enhancement for many different types of border lighting. Border lighting is usually colored and typically back lit by neon, fluorescent, or LED light sources. The width and depth of the channel can vary greatly. Some border lighting use only neon tubing without being enclosed in a channel, exposed directly to the surrounding environment.

Things to consider when planning a border light installation:

1. Lengths of run

• Helps to determine power supply placement, whether or not there is a need for extra wiring and the gauge of wire required for remote wiring.

2. Depth of channel

• Clarifies what/how much product should be used.

• Determines the spacing of the modules/boards within the channel in order to get proper illumination without hotspots on the channel face.

3. Color of the acrylic

• Helps to determine which module to use as some modules can match colored acrylic resulting in better color quality and consistency.

4. Width of the channel

• Along with the depth of the channel, this is important for determining LED module/board spacing in order to get proper illumination without hotspots on the channel face.

5. Level of weather protection
