Lumalux High Pressure
LUMALUX High Pressure Sodium

Positive Lamp Shutdown
When SYLVANIA LUMALUX PLUS®/ECO® lamps reach end of life they shut down, once and for all. There is no inconclusive change of color and no end-of-life cycling. End-of-life cycling, a common occurrence with standard high pressure sodium lamps, describes a lamp that temporarily extinguishes and then restrikes as it reaches the end of its life. The wasted maintenance calls prompted by this behavior can cost municipalities and other users thousands of dollars each year. LUMALUX PLUS/ECO lamps eliminate end-of-life cycling and can dramatically reduce maintenance costs.

Simplified Disposal
LUMALUX PLUS/ECO lamps contain up to 90 percent less mercury than standard HPS lamps and are lead free. They pass the Federal TCLP* test for hazardous waste determination, making them easier to dispose of in most states. High pressure sodium lamps from other manufacturers often contain lead and mercury in levels that cause them to fail the TCLP test, which can make disposing of spent lamps difficult and expensive.

Extended Life
With an average rated life of 30,000 hours, LUMALUX PLUS/ECO lamps operate 25 percent longer than most standard HPS lamps. This extended life helps reduce maintenance and relamping costs. Upgrading to LUMALUX PLUS/ECO is simple: the lamps are a direct replacement for standard HPS lamps and offer superior performance.

*Refers to the Federal Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) test for hazardous waste
determination as it currently exists. Consult your state’s regulations which may vary.

A Wide Range of Wattages
Because of their high efficacy, long life and superior reliability, LUMALUX® standard and ECO® lamps are the preferred choice for any high pressure sodium application. And with multiple wattages and configurations, SYLVANIA LUMALUX standard and ECO lamps offer unmatched versatility. All LUMALUX lamps have a lead-free, borosilicate hard glass outer jacket, and most mogul base lamps have welded lead-free bases that allow a maximum base temperature of 250°C (40°F higher than the ANSI standard).

TCLP-Passing ECOLOGIC® Option
LUMALUX/ECO lamps have reduced mercury and are lead free. This means they pass the Federal TCLP test which, depending on local regulations, may simplify disposal of spent lamps and reduce associated costs. These lamps are a direct replacement for and have equivalent or superior performance to HPS lamps that do not pass TCLP.

More Environmentally Friendly
LUMALUX® MERCURY-FREE/ECO® lamps are the ultimate in TCLP-passing high pressure sodium lamps. They have an exclusive ceramic arc tube with a reformulated mercury-free fill gas and a lead-free welded base. These lamps may be suitable for use where local mandates prohibit the use of products containing hazardous materials. They operate on standard HPS ballasts and offer life and efficiency ratings equivalent to standard sodium lamps while eliminating disposal costs.

Long Life, Instant Restrike
LUMALUX STANDBY high pressure sodium lamps feature an extra arc tube that restrikes instantly after brief power interruptions and returns to full light output within one to two minutes. This feature can be extremely important in applications where safety or security are primary considerations. As an added plus, most of these lamps have an average rated life of 40,000 hours. In all other respects they provide performance equivalent to standard HPS lamps.

Features and Benefits
Most Efficient Light Source
SYLVANIA LUMALUX® high pressure sodium (HPS)
lamps offer a higher efficacy than most other light
sources, providing up to 130 lumens per watt.

Up to 40,000-hour Life
Long life is another characteristic of LUMALUX lamps.
LUMALUX PLUS®/ECO® lamps and LUMALUX STANDBY
lamps exceed the life of standard HPS lamps by 25
percent and 67 percent respectively.

Decisive End-of-Life Feature
LUMALUX PLUS/ECO lamps have a unique positive
shutdown feature that eliminates the end-of-life cycling
problems common with standard HPS lamps.

More TCLP-Passing Options
There are three versions of LUMALUX lamps that pass
the Federal TCLP test: LUMALUX PLUS/ECO,
LUMALUX/ECO and LUMALUX MERCURY-FREE/ECO.

Lamp and Ballast Systems
LUMALUX lamps may be combined with SYLVANIA HID
ballasts to form a complete system.

Lower Energy Costs
Because of their high efficacy, LUMALUX lamps let you
light streets, parking lots, warehouses and similar
non-color-critical applications at the lowest possible cost.

Reduced Maintenance
The extended life of LUMALUX lamps means fewer
maintenance calls and lower operating expenses.

Positive ID of Failed Lamps
LUMALUX PLUS/ECO lamps put an end to end-of-life
cycling by letting you know without a doubt when a
lamp has failed, eliminating expensive “false alarm”
maintenance calls.

Simplified Lamp Disposal
With three TCLP-passing versions, spent LUMALUX/
ECO lamps can be easier and less costly to dispose of
than standard HPS lamps from other manufacturers.

Peace of Mind
By combining LUMALUX lamps and SYLVANIA HID
ballasts as a system, the installation is covered by a
comprehensive system warranty.
