Ceramic Arc Tube Technology
Advanced ceramic arc tube technology allows SYLVANIA METALARC® POWERBALL™ Ceramic lamps to run at optimum temperature, improving efficacy and resisting lamp degradation.
Consistent Lamp-to-Lamp Color
Unlike standard metal halide lamps, which can vary as much as 400K in color appearance from one lamp to another, METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps feature improved color consistency regardless of operating position.
Solid Color Stability
Ceramic arc tube technology also provides exceptional color stability throughout the life of the lamp. With +/_ 200K color shift over life, METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps reduce the color variation typically associated with metal halide light sources.
High CRI
METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps have a color rendering index (CRI) greater than 80, as much as 25 percent higher than standard metal halide lamps.
Superior Lumen Maintenance and Efficacy
The superior arc tube material and design of METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps allow them to offer up to 20 percent higher initial lumens and 30 percent higher maintained lumens than standard metal halide products.
Reduced UV Output
The shrouds surrounding the ceramic arc tubes in low watt METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps feature UV-stop technology that reduces ultraviolet output.
Pulse Start Technology
Color stability and lumen maintenance in METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps is further enhanced by SYLVANIA’s sophisticated pulse start technology.
METALARC PRO-TECH® Shroud
Most METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps incorporate exclusive shroud technology which contains lamp fragments in case of a non-passive failure and helps to reduce UV radiation.
CERAMIC POWERBALL Powerful PAR Lamps
SYLVANIA METALARC® POWERBALL™ Ceramic PAR lamps combine the high lumen output and excellent efficacy of standard metal halide lamps with the superb color characteristics of ceramic arc tube technology in compact PAR lamp configurations. Precision optics in these high powered lamps provide smooth, even beam patterns with no hot spots. These are among the most powerful directional, white light sources available for everyday display and accent lighting applications. All METALARC
POWERBALL Ceramic PAR lamps offer consistent lamp-to-lamp color, lifelong color temperature stability and a high CRI. They are available in PAR38, PAR30 and PAR20 configurations in a variety of beam spreads and wattages.
Bright White Light with Minimal Color Shift
Many retail and commercial applications with high ceilings require large amounts of ambient white light along with color consistency and superior color rendering. SYLVANIA METALARC® POWERBALL™
Ceramic E17 lamps are ideal for these installations, since their ceramic arc tube technology ensures lamp-to-lamp color consistency and color rendering (CRI) greater than 80. And Ceramic E17 lamps typically offer 20 percent higher initial lumens and 25 percent higher maintained lumens than standard metal halide lamps, which improves efficacy and lumen maintenance. This means that fewer fixtures can be specified, reducing both initial expense and operating costs. Because the METALARC PRO-TECH® shroud in all METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic E17 lamps contains lamp fragments in the event of a non-passive failure, these lamps can be used in open or enclosed fixtures. This shielding technology also significantly reduces UV output. For applications that require more light than the low wattage E17 products, a 250W BT28 lamp is offered with longer life and a CRI of 94.
More Light from Smaller Fixtures
At just four inches long and only 3/4 inches in diameter, METALARC® POWERBALL™ Ceramic T6 lamps are one of the most compact ceramic arc tube lamps available. These lamps may be small, but they are extremely powerful and efficient. The 150W version, for example, puts out more light than a 500W halogen lamp. Their compact size translates into one big advantage—more light from smaller fixtures. These lamps use UV-Stop glass technology to significantly reduce UV output and minimize discoloration and fading of materials. Like all METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic lamps, the T6 offers color consistency and stability, high CRI and exceptional efficacy and lumen maintenance. An even smaller option is the TC jacket which is less than 2 inches in diameter and is offered with a bi-pin base. This lamp offers the same benefits as the T6 lamp. Double ended lamps are also offered in 70W and 150W.
The SYSTEM SOLUTION™ for HID
SYLVANIA Professional Series QUICKTRONIC® MH electronic HID ballasts have been specifically designed to optimize the performance advantages of METALARC® POWERBALL™ Ceramic lamps. As part of the SYSTEM SOLUTION approach to lighting system design pioneered by OSRAM SYLVANIA, they help maintain the lamp’s color temperature consistency over its entire life and provide uniform color regardless of any input voltage variations. Special Features and Technology All SYLVANIA Professional Series QUICKTRONIC MH ballasts are universal voltage, so they can be used in 120V 277V systems. Exclusive technology ensures long ballast life even at operating temperatures up to 90°C, and safety protection that automatically shuts down the ballast in the event of lamp failure or a short circuit.
