It seems like everyone has heard a joke about "how many so-and-sos it takes to change a light bulb." But what would happen if light bulbs never needed changing?
The new SYLVANIA ICETRON™ Inductively Coupled Electrodeless lighting system has a 100,000-hour average rated life. In a typical industrial or municipal application, that means that you might have to wait 25 years before the lamp needs to be changed! In a recent technological breakthrough, OSRAM SYLVANIA engineers developed a way to produce light without using electrodes, which means that there is essentially nothing in the lamp that can wear out. The resulting system is also exceptionally energy efficient, producing up to 76 lumens per watt. If you’re going to live with a lamp for 25 years, it’s important to have excellent light quality.
ICETRON lamps are available in the same popular 3500K and 4100K color temperatures as linear fluorescent lamps and achieve a high color rendering index of 80. Compare ICETRON’s performance to standard metal halide lamps which only manage 65 to 75 CRI, have poor lumen maintenance and are rated at just 15,000 hours of service life. The best place to use ICETRON is in situations where relamping is inconvenient or expensive. Examples include areas with high ceilings or 24-hour activity, street lighting, work yards, parking lots and tunnels. Fixture manufacturers have embraced ICETRON technology and have developed a range of decorative street lanterns, surface mount luminaires, "shoe box" fixtures and indirect pendants.
ICETRON lamps are available in 100W and 150W versions with a choice of 3500K and 4100K color temperatures. QUICKTRONIC® ICE 150 ballasts power either 150W or 100W lamps. QUICKTRONIC ICE 100 ballasts power 100W lamps.
