SilverStar Signal
How it works
| The SilverStar Signal light is made with a multilayer dielectric coating. What this means is we start with a clear bulb and coat the outside of the bulb with multiple layers of a proprietary coating. This coating is designed to allow certain wavelengths of light, red & orange, to pass through and reflect the others. The image to the right shows what happens. The left half has the light off, the right half is on. When the light is off and light hits the bulb, red & orange pass through while all other colors are reflected which creates the bluish look you see below. When the light is on, only the orange and red pass through in certain amounts in the other direction so the light emits the legal amber color of turn signals (see below right, defined as lit). When off you can see the difference of SilverStar Signal compared to standard amber bulbs. When on, they both emit the correct amber light. |
