Buried in the basement or gallivanting in the garage, utility lights are used for general lighting in areas were a person might work.  Consider fluorescent sources for area where lots of light is required or long operating hours. These fixtures come in all shapes and sizes. Use special flurescent fixtures designed for cold starting in cold or drafty areas. Special purpose utlity lights, also known as hand lamps are used for temporary work areas and are typically ruggedized to withstand vibration and abuse. Specially designed Rough Service lamps tolerate vibration and jarring better than regular Incandescent bulbs.
