If you want visual interest in a space, a wall sconce may be the answer.  Wall sconces can frame a window, fireplace, or mirror or light hallways and dining rooms.  With up to three “directions” of light, the options are vast.  Light down can brighten a wall.  Light up can brighten the wall and/or ceiling.  Light glow from a translucent cover can give a dynamic view to the scene.
