Q) What is SilverStar?
A) SilverStar is a line of replacement high performance halogen headlights. SilverStar halogen headlights produce a whiter light that is closer to the color of natural daylight.

Q) What are the benefits of SilverStar?

Q) Is down road illumination important to see better at night?
A) Both down road and peripheral illumination are important for night driving visibility.  SilverStar’s whiter light is closer to the color of natural daylight and improves peripheral vision.

Q) Why is peripheral illumination important?
A) Peripheral illumination helps improve the visibility of signage, pedestrians, wildlife and road hazards.  The enhanced peripheral visibility that comes from SilverStar’s whiter light output also results in faster driver reaction time, compared to standard halogen bulbs.

Q) Do SilverStar headlights cause glare?
A) SYLVANIA SilverStar is a fully compliant, street legal product that can actually help make driving safer. There are many reasons that headlights can cause discomfort among drivers, including: headlamp height, aim, beam pattern, intensity.  Poorly manufactured, knock-off products, can also lead to glare.

Q) Are SilverStar bulbs street legal?
A) Our products are designed within the limits of wattage, color, light output (lumens) and are of the highest quality that are placed in the industry by the government. Learn more about the laws.

PERFORMANCE

Q) How much whiter are SilverStar headlights?
A) SilverStar is up to 4000K on the color temperature scale, which is a white color that is closer to the color of daylight. Standard halogen headlights are about 3000K and have a yellowish color, in comparison.

Q) How long do SilverStar headlights last?
A) The life of any halogen bulb will depend upon your vehicle type and how much you drive. However, all halogen headlights dim over time. That’s why we recommend replacing headlights in pairs about once a year, before they burn out.
SilverStar is a high performance halogen headlight that produces a whiter light that research has shown can improve driver visibility and reaction time. The benefits of increased light output and improved color quality can result in a shorter life for high performance headlights, compared to standard bulbs.

Q) Are SilverStar headlights high intensity discharge (HID) or Xenarc headlights?
A) No. SilverStar is a street-legal halogen upgrade that gives off a whiter light than standard halogen headlights and is comparable in color to HID headlights. A pair of SilverStar headlights cost $39.99. HID headlights, which last the life of your vehicle and offer other advantages, cost a few hundred dollars.

Q)  What’s the difference between European and North American SilverStar?
A) The Sylvania North American SilverStar bulbs have a high tech amethyst blue coating to help give the whiter light appearance. The European SilverStar does not have a coating for the whiter light, making it more like the SYLVANIA (US) XtraVision product line. Both bulbs offer greater luminance (increased brightness).
