Fluorescent Lamps:


The Versailles, KY plant has reduced the average mercury dosing per lamp by up to 92% over the past several years and continues to focus on reduction activities.

Currently, our OCTRON T8 lamps contain less than 3.5 mg of mercury, while our PENTRON T5 lamps contain less than 2.5 mg and will be going lower later this year.




Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs):

OSRAM SYLVANIA joined other NEMA companies in setting maximum mercury content for self ballasted compact fluorescent lamps.  Under the voluntary commitment, effective April 15, 2007, participating manufacturers will cap the total mercury content in CFLs under 25 watts at 5 milligrams (mg) per unit. CFLs that use 25 to 40 watts of electricity will have total mercury content capped at 6 mg per unit. Read the announcement...
