Wilmington, Mass. – North American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA announced that eight SYLVANIA lighting innovations were recognized by Design Journal and two SYLVANIA products received Architectural SSL Product Innovation Awards (PIA), resulting in eighteen awards for the company. In addition, SYLVANIA SubstiTUBE® Value LED T8 Tube is a member of an elite group of 76 products showcased in the June 2016 issue of BUILDINGS and online at www.BUILDINGS.com. Finalists were evaluated by the BUILDINGS editorial staff for the money-saving qualities they offer to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy efficiency, water savings, and maintenance.
“Our customers count on the SYLVANIA brand for high-quality lighting, and these awards demonstrate we are delivering,” said Phil Rioux, vice president and CEO, Global LED Lamps Business at OSRAM SYLVANIA. “These industry accolades recognize SYLVANIA LED products across our broad portfolio, including smart connected lighting, and are a result of the hard work of our global teams to advance light.”
Commissioned annually by Design Journal, ADEX is considered one of the largest architecture and design award competitions in the industry, recognizing winning entrants at Platinum, Gold and Silver award levels. In addition to being named “Best of 2015 Products” by Design Journal, the following SYLVANIA innovations were honored with ADEX awards:
· LIGHTIFY™ Smart Connected Portfolio – Platinum Award
· SubstiTUBE IPS LED T8 Lamps – Platinum Award
· ULTRA LED™ MR16 Lamps – Platinum Award
· ULTRA LED HO PAR Lamps – Platinum Award
· ULTRA LED RT6 HO Recessed Downlight Kit – Platinum Award
· ULTRA LED A-Line Lamps – Gold Award
· ULTRA LED Glass PAR Lamps – Gold Award
· ULTRA LED High Lumen Lamp – Gold Award
In addition, the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED RT6 HO LED Downlight Kit and SYLVANIA ULTRA LED Glass PAR Lamps were also honored with Architectural SSL Product Innovation Awards (PIA) in the “Components and Light Source” category. The PIAs determine and honor the most innovative LED/solid-state luminaires and fixtures on the market, while also recognizing the companies behind the components that make up these light sources. Evaluation of products and systems were judged in composite sections varying from an initial grade, to scores for technical merits, to scores for specific attributes such as replacement policies. The SSL PIA program awards manufacturers based on attributes, qualities, functionality and/or performance beyond industry standards.
“There’s an old maxim that says be careful what you wish for. Back in 2007 when we started this magazine, it was very difficult to find any LED products. Almost a decade later, the challenge is not finding an LED product, it’s identifying the good ones—thus the PIAs, which we hope will help lighting decision-makers everywhere make more informed choices, or at the least, point them in a good starting direction,” said Jim Crockett, editorial director, Architectural SSL.
